Frequently Asked Question

  • Membership is not required to participate in certain programs and services, including the free nutrition program. However, some activities, classes, and amenities may require an active membership. Front desk staff are happy to help determine what options are available based on your interests.

  • Anyone 40 years of age or older is eligible for membership.

  • Membership is $180 per year. Payment options include quarterly, semi-annual, or annual plans for added convenience. This equates to approximately $15 per month.

  • The center is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding Madison County–observed holidays and periods of inclement weather.

  • During inclement weather, the Harrison Center will be closed at the direction of the Madison County Commissioner, District 6. If the Madison County Courthouse is closed, the Bob Harrison Center (BHC) will also be closed.

    Announcements regarding closures during business hours will be made on local television and radio stations. After-hours or weekend closures, if necessary, will be posted on the front and back doors of the BHC.

  • Yes. Guests 40 years of age or older are permitted. Guests must sign a waiver at each visit and pay a $5 visitor pass fee per visit.

  • Yes. Family members and caregivers are encouraged to be involved and may participate in programs, attend events, and assist participants as appropriate. The Bob Harrison Center values a supportive, inclusive environment and recognizes the important role families and caregivers play in overall health, wellness, and independence.

  • The Bob Harrison Center offers advocacy and support services designed to help older adults navigate resources and maintain independence. Services include information and referrals, assistance connecting to community and county resources, and support in identifying programs related to health, nutrition, transportation, and wellness. Staff are available to guide participants toward appropriate services as needed.

  • Anyone 65 years of age or older is eligible for the free nutrition program. The spouse of an eligible participant is also eligible, even if the spouse is under the age of 65.

  • No. Membership at the Bob Harrison Center is not required to participate in the free nutrition program.

  • Yes. We offer free transportation (TRAM service) for members who live within Madison County District 6 to attend the Bob Harrison Center.

     

    Please note that there is currently a waiting list for transportation services. You may add your name to the list by calling the center or visiting the front desk.

  • Yes. We accept the following insurance-based fitness programs:

    • SilverSneakers

    • Silver&Fit

    • Renew Active

  • No, we do not offer a married-couple discount. However, our low-cost membership remains more affordable than many comparable fitness and wellness options in the area.

  • The Bob Harrison Center offers a wide variety of programs focused on health, wellness, education, and social engagement. These include fitness and exercise classes, aquatics, nutrition services, educational workshops, recreational and social activities, and special events. Programs are designed to promote active lifestyles, support independence, and encourage meaningful community connections.

  • You may join by visiting the center in person and requesting a membership application at the front desk. Staff will assist you with the process, including insurance verification and payment options. You may also call the center for additional information.
